Fish oil supplements safe
Environmental Defense, a non-profit organization, has released results from its first fish oil study, which showed that two thirds of polled companies follow strict procedures to limit contamination. The group polled 54 major US producers and suppliers and compared their policies to those established by the Environmental Protection Agency and the state of California’s Proposition 65, which are considered the strictest guidelines established. Thirty seven verified that they met these standards, including the use of such purification processes as molecular distillation and steam deodorisation. Nine gave incomplete responses and eight did not respond. The study can be found at www.oceansalive.org.
