With the Food & Drug Agency's Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) regime looming, Global Lifescience Solutions, a NSF International Company, will hold a GMP two-day training seminar for the dietary supplement industry next month.

The GMP regulation will oblige manufacturers to document, among other things, the sourcing of their ingredients. Enforcement will be phased in according to company size. On 25 June, companies with 500 or more employees, excluding contractors, will be brought into the regime. A year on, companies with fewer than 500 employees, but more than 20, will be brought into the scheme. And on 25 June 2010, the rules will apply to companies with fewer than 20 staff.

The Global Lifescience Solutions seminar will focus on:

  • the historical, regulatory and legal aspects of GMPs for dietary supplements
  • issues involved in manufacturing and testing of dietary supplement
  • FDA expectations during audits of manufacturing facilities
  • employees' compliance with the new regulations.

The event runs from 3 to 4 June at the NSF International World Headquarters, in Michigan. Register at http://www.regonline.com/builder/site/Default.aspx?eventid=199160 or call 1-800-NSF-MARK, ext 5734.
