A consortium of 10 multinationals will employ the controversial Guideline Dietary Amount (GDA) labelling system on their food products in France, just as they did in the UK in early 2006 in defiance of the regulator there, which backs a colour-coded traffic light system. The 10 companies — including Coca Cola, Unilever, Nestlé, Kellogg's, PepsiCo, Kraft, Masterfoods and Danone — will begin introducing the labels that express ingredient contents such as salt, sugar and fat as percentages of a recommended daily amount throughout the year.
